So after a few weeks of excited waiting, my Foxy knocker arrived from Devon, England - complete with old emerald green paint on the back of his paws from some old door gone by where he served for many years! imagine how gutted I was to get the Anthropologie catalog in the mail this week and see them reproducing a VERY similar knocker? what were the chances?

My Victorian Sweet Shop Bell arrived too from Hertfordshire, England and it truly does make the place sound like an old sweetshop which is kind of what I was going for, especially as my shop used to be “Mary’s Candy Store” back in the day, run my an Irish Lady, called Mary!

The old wrought iron bracket arrived too and its up already, but i have yet to screen print the sign which will accompany it and its HUGE, I may have to play around with it a bit to get my intended plan to work out.

Here is a picture of my makeshift opening sign to tide me over until I make a proper one AND figure out when are the better times to open in Red Hook?

Lastly a shot of some of the shop complete with product. Visible is one (of a pair) of the 1930’s Milk Glass Bullet lamps - another ebay purchase..one more upright lamp is on the way..OH and an a Tomato Red Gooseneck Desk Lamp!

Well its been a few months but I can now confirm for sure that Foxy & Winston is opening a wee shop at 392 Van Brunt Street in Red Hook. I moved out of my old studio down by the water last month and am now fully installed and getting ready to open the doors next weekend (hopefully!). Here are a couple of shots of the shopfront with its new Tomato Red Door and clean, white paint job and of the freshly painted old dresser that I made all new shelves for. I splurged on a gorgeous light fitting in keeping with the whole 1930’s look of the shop from my favorite shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn Moon River Chattel
I have had THE most fun accessorizing the shop thanks to Ebay with, a vintage brass Fox door knocker , a Victorian sweet shop “tinkle tinkle ” bell and a seriously old and ornate hanging bracket for me to hang a swinging sign from once I have screen printed it - ALL from England!
I am also pleased to announce the following new stores carrying Foxy goods this month:
Dymocks Chain in Australia
Bartelby’s Letterpress Emporium in Portland, OR
Tilde in Portland, OR
Lundeens in Culver City, CA
Skylight Books in Los Angeles, CA
Walker Art Museum Shop in Minneapolis, MN
